 Operating Systems

The following concepts are considered to be fundamental to operating systems: design objects; sequential process; concurrent processes; functional mutual exclusion; processor co-operation and deadlocks; and management. Management of large-scale information processing systems, including scheduling and control. Processor access techniques, task control languages, memory addressing, paging and store multiplexing, as well as time sharing and batch processing are all part of the dispatching process. Scheduling algorithms, file systems, and security; semaphores and critical sections, device drivers, multiprocessing, sharing, design and implementation methods, performance assessment, and case studies are all topics that will be covered. Every week, students are required to participate in a lab session that lasts for three hours.
